This is pretty awesome, actually:
Teaching Old Chips New Tricks: The Red One Means Stop
Basically, some researchers found that if you inserted visual cues (like making every seventh Pringles chip red) people were more aware of how much they ate while snacking. And they on average ate less - a lot less.
All of which makes a lot of sense, now that they've figured it out...
